Heartwood History and Community

Our journey since 1997!

In 1997 a handful of parents joined together under a traditional school to homeschool their children. They later outgrew that setting and formed a separate church school cover according to Alabama State law.

In April 2017, the school became Heartwood Christian Academy, a ministry of Oak Park Church. There have been changes over the years, but our mission has remained the same "To Empower Homeschooling Families to Raise Godly Leaders."

Alabama and Mississippi ...

We welcome families with K-12th grade students from Alabama and nearby Mississippi counties.  Heartwood Christian Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, or disability. However, if the attitudes or actions of the individual family endanger the peace and purity of the school or the rights of families enrolled with Heartwood Christian Academy, the administrators reserve the right to refuse or to rescind membership with Heartwood Christian Academy.

We are here for you!

Heartwood accepts homeschooling families, whether they are new to homeschooling or well-acquainted with homeschooling.

Our goal is to help each family find its best homeschooling method. The administrative leaders offer personal attention and group workshops. In addition, the team leaders are available for individual support.

We want to help make your homeschooling journey successful!
